Are the sewing patterns physical products or digital downloads?
All of my sewing patterns are digital PDF downloads. No physical items will be posted. This is so that the patterns can be readily available worldwide.
Once your purchase is complete, you’ll receive an email with a download link. If you don’t see it, double-check your junk/spam folder. If you still don’t see it, send an email to hello@sweetsmilingsoul.com, and we’ll happily assist you.
What device is best for downloading the patterns?
A computer or laptop (Mac or Windows) is recommended; however, you can still download your files using your phone or tablet.

What do I do if I can only see some of the files?
This usually means the full ZIP file hasn’t been downloaded or opened properly.
Try downloading the files again and make sure the download has fully completed before opening it. If you’re using a phone or tablet, the files may be saved in your Downloads or Files app.

I’m a beginner. Are your sewing patterns suitable for me?
Yes. All patterns are designed to be beginner-friendly, with clear written instructions, step-by-step photos, and a video series for further guidance:

That said, sewing does take patience. It’s completely normal to unpick seams and redo steps, even after years of sewing.
Do the patterns include video tutorials?
Yes. I’ve created a free YouTube video series to support the written instructions.
These videos offer extra guidance, reassurance, and inspiration as you sew.
Can I make the items using this pattern and sell them?
No. These patterns are for personal use only.
You’re welcome to make items for yourself or as gifts and donations, but the patterns and any items made from them are not to be sold, shared, or reproduced commercially without permission. We appreciate your understanding.
How long does it take to make the doll or book?
These are designed to be slow sewing projects.
The time it takes can vary depending on your experience, the materials you choose, and how much detail you add. Many people complete them over a few days.
What fabrics should I use?
Cotton, linen, felt, and lightweight canvas all work well.
You can also use fabric scraps, recycled clothing, or leftover materials. These patterns are great for using what you already have.
If you’re after a quicker or simpler approach, felt is the easiest option for the elements.
Is interfacing, wadding or batting required?
No, it’s optional. However, it does give the books more structure.
I use stiff or medium-weight iron-on interfacing to give the books structure. If you prefer a softer finish, you can use thin wadding or batting instead.
Can I purchase individual patterns separately?
The patterns available are the Doll & Dollhouse Storybook, the Doll & Adventure Book, or the Bundle, which includes both patterns.
All patterns include both the girl and boy doll versions. The doll patterns are not available to purchase separately, as they are designed to be used with the books.

Do you offer classes or workshops?
Not at the moment. This is something I may offer in the future.
For now, the YouTube video series is the best way to sew along with me.
Can I get a refund?
Due to the nature of digital downloads, refunds aren’t generally offered once files have been received, downloaded, and accessed.
If something genuinely isn’t right, please email hello@sweetsmilingsoul.com, and we’ll work through it together.
Is there a boy version of the doll?
Yes. This is a recent addition to the doll series sewing patterns. All current patterns now include both a girl and a boy doll version. The finished dolls measure approximately 14–15 cm and are designed to fit perfectly within the books.
If you purchased the pattern before the boy doll was added, you would have received an email letting you know about the update. If you download the pattern again using the same link from your original purchase, it will automatically include the boy doll pattern pieces and instructions, along with the shorts and T-shirt.
