Turning Fabric Scraps into Something Wearable ✂️🧵

For my latest video on YouTube, I decided to challenge myself to use what I already have – fabric scraps and old project leftovers – the bits I’ve been holding onto for way too long.

And what better way to put them to good use than by making my favourite pair of patchwork overalls?

I am obsessed with this sewing pattern – I’ve made these overalls four times now.

The pattern is ‘Dungarees’ by Make It Yours The Label. (Not an affiliate, I just genuinely love them).

I made these out of a vintage tablecloth from my grandmother. It used to be on the table in the spare room of my grandparent's home and holds a lot of memories and meaning for me.

I love a good scrap-busting project, and my latest one was particularly fun because I had no idea how the overalls would turn out. Would it be a colourful masterpiece or a chaotic mess? Only one way to find out…

I know patchwork isn’t everyone’s thing, but there’s something so satisfying about turning random pieces into something wearable. Plus, working with what I have is a big part of how I approach sewing – I want to create unique, handmade clothing without contributing to overconsumption.

If you love sewing, sustainable fashion, or just watching crafty projects come together, I’d love for you to check out my latest video and subscribe if you’d like to follow my sewing journey!

Also, I could easily see myself making a pair of overalls for every day of the week. 😆

Do you sew? What’s your favourite way to use up scraps? Let me know in the comments over on the video!

And if you don’t sew, let me know what you think of them anyway!
