Quilt blocks on pre-loved denim...
Patchwork always catches my eye. There’s just something about combining mismatched pieces of fabric together to create something cosy and unique.
Lately, I’ve been drawn to the idea of combining sewing with art, letting go of perfection, and just making something because it feels good. That’s exactly how my latest sewing project came about.
I found a second-hand Uniqlo denim jacket on Facebook Marketplace and knew I wanted to give it a new life.
While on Pinterest, looking for some inspiration, I came across a blog post on patchwork clothing. One jacket in particular caught my eye – a denim jacket with scattered quilt blocks attached to it.

Inspiration for the jacket – source
I’d never made a quilt block before, but that didn’t stop me from wanting to try! So I pulled out some floral cotton fabrics I’d recently bought, played with colour combinations, and began piecing them together.
It felt meditative – cutting, sewing, ironing – watching a joyful palette come together into something unexpected.

The final result is a mix of colour, softness, and imperfect charm.
If you’re curious about the process or want to see how it came together from start to finish, you can watch the full video over on YouTube.
