Crafting on Holiday: Long Stitch, Fabric Finds & More

This week’s YouTube video is a little different – more of a cosy holiday vlog! ✨

While we were away, I purchased a simple craft project to work on: a beautiful Sew & So long stitch kit by Fiona Jude (Harvest Moon). It turned out to be the perfect slow and meditative activity for my last day on holiday 🌙

Normally, I pack a little holiday craft bag, but it always seems like I never even touch the supplies I bring. Yet, when I don’t bring anything, I always end up regretting it and craving a craft project of some kind 😅

For this trip, I decided to only pack some watercolour paints (which I didn’t touch) because I’d been working so much on the Bob Dylan jacket and felt like I needed a break from sewing. But of course, while I was away, I missed sewing 🤷♀️

Anyway, the problem was solved after purchasing a long stitch kit that had everything I needed.

In the vlog, you’ll see a time-lapse of my progress on the long stitch (I’m about halfway!) and a little peek at some bits and pieces I picked up from the craft store. I love wandering around craft stores whenever I travel – even if I don’t need anything in particular, there’s always inspiration waiting to be found.

Speaking of inspiration, I also share a glimpse of what’s sparking my next upcycling idea: recreating that iconic denim overall dress Brittany Murphy wore in Uptown Girls.

I recently watched the movie again, and my eyes lit up!

It’s such a playful and timeless piece, and I’m already dreaming up ways to bring a version of it to life 🌼

I just need to find the right dress to work with first. Hopefully, I can find something similar in Melbourne.

I’d love to know – do you bring a hobby or creative project with you when you travel? Or do you get inspired while you’re away and purchase craft supplies or projects to complete?

Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments on the YouTube video – I’d love to hear from you.

Thanks so much for watching and reading!
